BOP: Dorin Chirtoaca – 39% of the poll, Igor Dodon – 26%
The Public Opinion Barometer (BOP) made public on May 30 shows that 39% of the people would vote for Dorin Chirtoaca, while 26% for Igor Dodon. Valentina Buliga would poll 4% of the vote, while Maia Laguta – 1%. Though Victor Bodiu withdrew from the electoral race, 2% of the respondents said they would vote for him. The undecided voters represent 24%, Info-Prim Neo reports.
As to the election of councilors in Chisinau, 20% of those questioned said they would vote for the PCRM, 18% – for the PLDM, 12% – for the PDM, while 9% for the PL.
Asked what party they would not vote for in the local elections, 34% of the respondents from all over the country and 43% of the respondents from the municipality answered the PCRM. The same ratio for the PL is 24% : 23%.
Dorin Chirtoaca is trusted by 48% of those polled in Chisinau, Vlad Filat by 40%, Mihai Ghimpu – by 31%, while Marian Lupu – by 24%. At national level, Vlad Filat is the most trusted personality. He is followed by Dorin Chirtoaca, Marian Lupu and Mihai Ghimpu.
If elections were held next Sunday, the turnout in the elections at national level will be 78%, while in Chisinau - 82%.
The poll also shows that 58% of the respondents from the municipality consider the elections are not free and fair. The same opinion is shared by 47% of the respondents from all over the country.
Arcadie Barbarosie, director of the Public Policy Institute, said the two leaders - Dorin Chirtoaca and Igor Dodon – considerably outstrip the other contenders. According to him, the situation in 2007 was different.
The poll was commissioned by the Public Policy Institute and carried out by the Center of Sociological, Politological and Psychological Analysis and Investigations CIVIS between May 6 and 24. It covered a sample of 1,152 persons from 75 settlements. The margin of error for the nationwide survey is 3%, while for the municipal one - 4%.
