Border personnel may be increased for winter period

The flow of people and means of transport crossing the border will be monitored round the clock between December 20 and January 20 and, if need be, the personnel of the customs will be increased, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Border Guard Service. The communiqué says that there was prepared special portable equipment for reading travel documents, including biometric passports, as more people prefer now to spend the winter holidays abroad. Last December, the state border was crossed by about 1 million persons. About 700,000 of them crossed the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, while over 300,000 - the Moldovan-Romanian border. Among the most crowded border crossing points were “Valcinet”, “Leuseni”, “Sculeni”, and “Chisinau Aeroport”.
