The construction of the future college of electronics and informatics, financed by the Austrian authorities, was launched in Chisinau. “Today we are laying the cornerstone of this college, and the implementation scenario is ambitious,” Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun stated in the ceremony to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of the Republic of Austria. The official noted that together with the Austrian counterparts, they set the goal of opening this educational institution in September 2025, IPN reports.
“The building of this Austrian technical college will allow us to bring to the Republic of Moldova the best European expertise and a successful model of achieving vocational-technical education. We will offer our graduates the opportunity to benefit from high-quality education in the Republic of Moldova. We also hope to be an attraction point for Austrian companies that would come and invest in the Republic of Moldova, especially in engineering, informatics and microelectronics,” said Dan Perciun.
The Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research of Austria Martin Polaschek said that Austria is one of the long-standing partners, which has always provided support to Moldova. “Austria’s vocational-technical education system is known all over the world and our rich expertise is certainly a valuable one that we will share, but at the same time we are sure that we will also benefit from the improvement of our experiences as a result of this exchange,” stated said Martin Polaschek. The Austrian minister noted that the founding of this educational institution in Moldova represents an investment in the future. The institution will be an attraction point for students from Moldova as it will be built on the territory of the Free Economic Zone, where there are also economic agents that will employ graduates.
The training will be predominantly in German, but there will also be courses in Romanian and English. The specialization will be computer science and microelectronics, and graduates will obtain a diploma recognized both in the Republic of Moldova and in Austria and the entire European Union.
