The Democratic Party is the next party that will take over the presidency of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI). It is to convene the meeting of the AEI Council where the candidate for the presidency will be discussed, the leader of the Liberal democratic group Ion Hadarca said in the program “Replica” on Prime TV, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”They will convoke the Council to consider whether to keep the candidate agreed by the member parties when the alliance constitution agreement was signed. Fielding a common candidate for the post of head of state was the main principle on the basis of which the alliance was formed,” said Ion Hadarca.
He stated the problem of the election of the President could have been solved long ago if Article 78 of the Constitution (which describes the procedure for electing the head of state) had been amended or the procedure for adopting a new Constitution had been launched in accordance with the alliance’s government program.
”The AEI will rule until it exists. Until nobody annuls the alliance constitution agreement, it will be functional,” said Ion Hadarca.
As to the discussion that the leaders of the Liberal Party and the Communist Party had in the hall of the Palace of the Republic, Ion Hadarca said it is normal for the two colleagues to communicate even if they form part of different parliamentary groups. This does not mean that there are devised scenarios or secret schemes, he stated.
