The Communist Party, whose representatives in Parliament Friday protested against a bill with amendments to the Law on the Administration and Denationalization of Public Property, in fact adopted the given law in 2007. The changes proposed in Parliament today are aimed only at enabling the Government to more efficiently manage the process, said Democratic MP Adrian Candu, quoted by IPN.

He said the amendments made by the Parliament are only a continuation of the law passed by the Communists. “The bill is intended to ease the Government’s work in administering property. There are introduced new notions and delimitations between the public property of the state and the private property of the state. The draft law describes how the goods should be conceded and how they should be privatized,” stated Candu.

He denied the accusations made by the Communist MPs, who said that the bill passed by Parliament promotes the interests of the Democratic Party. “The questions concerning the privatization should be put to the Communists – why they did what they did in 2007? It is they who put up for privatization such companies as UNIC, Franzeluta, Moldtelecom and the whole wine industry,” said the MP.

According to him, the fact that the bill was adopted today does not mean that the companies that can be privatized will be put up for auction immediately. His statements were confirmed by the head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita, of the Liberal-Democratic Party. “The bill actually does not review the list of companies that can be privatized, but clarifies things as regards the management of public property. It is an extension to the law passed by the Communists in 2007,” said Ionita.

The Communist lawmakers blocked the Parliament’s central rostrum, trying to prevent the adoption of the law. Nevertheless, the MPs of the majority coalition passed it in the first reading.
