One of the cars of the guard officers of the President’s motorcade was involved in a road accident while on a mission on the Chisinau-Leușeni at about 3:00pm on February 22, IPN reports.
According to Mariana Beţivu, press officer of the General Police Inspectorate, the presidential convoy was heading for the municipality of Chisinau, but it is not yet known where it came from and if President Igor Dodon was in one of the cars. More details about the accident cannot be yet provided.
According to the presidential press service, the preliminary reports show the accident was caused by a driver coming from the opposite direction. This didn’t adjust the speed to the unfavorable weather conditions and the wet and sleep roadway. No one was hurt.
On a social networking site, President Igor Dodon wrote that he was safe and that the car of the guard officers was struck. He asked not speculate on this accident as all kinds of theories and scenarios can appear before the elections.
Last September, two cars of the President’s motorcade were involved in an accident on the Strășeni-Călărași road. President Igor Dodon and some of the members of his family were in one of these cars. The driver of a truck that also tried to overtake another vehicle was declared to blame.
