The candidate proposed by the PLDM for premiership Chiril Gaburici said that he is ready to assume the responsibilities associated with the post of Prime Minister. After the consultations he had with President Nicolae Timofti, he told the press that the situation in Moldova is not easy and the country needs a Premier, but voiced hope that he will be voted by all the parliamentary groups, IPN reports.

“It’s not easy, knowing the economic and political situation. I realize in what period I’m fielded for this post, but I assume the responsibility,” stated Chiril Gaburici, noting that he will continue to promote the country’s pro-European course. He said that he intends to have discussions with the parliamentary groups, trade unions and employers the coming days and hopes that the Governments’ work program and his team will be supported.

Asked how he comments on the fact that Iurie Leanca will not vote him Prime Minister if he is not the candidate of an alliance between the PLDM, PDM and PL, Chiril Gaburici said he is a good friend of Iurie Leanca and respects his decision, but he will yet discuss with him.

Gaburici denied the reports that he is related to the niece of the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin.

On February 14, President Nicolae Timofti had consultations with all the parliamentary groups for designating a candidate for premiership. Only the PLDM fielded a candidate. This is Chiril Gaburici, who managed the company “Moldcell” in 2008-2012 and then its daughter company in Azerbaijan. This is the second attempt to invest the Government. On February 12, the government program and the Cabinet proposed by Iurie Leanca didn’t get a vote of confidence.

The presidential press service informed that Nicolae Timofti will analyze the positions stated by the parliamentary groups and the coming days will sign a decree to officially nominate the candidate for premiership.
