Chisinau Council sitting postponed for lack of quorum

The sitting of the Chisinau Municipal Council was postponed again on Tuesday after the councilors failed to be there at the same time. Communist faction head Boris Golovin told Info-Prim Neo that his faction arrived for the meeting at the scheduled time, yet the Alliance councilors failed to show up. “We waited for almost an hour, but the other councilors didn't turn out. So we decided to leave. The Mayor told us the Alliance councilors didn't come because they thought we wouldn't come”, said Golovin. City Hall spokesman Vadim Brinzaniuc said the Alliance councilors eventually came for the meeting, but the Communist faction had already been gone. Among the 28 issues on the sitting's agenda the most important one was a loan agreement with BERD for 22 million euros that needs the Council's approval so that the municipality can start rehabilitating 6 streets in the city. An earlier sitting was supposed to take place on December 23. The Communist faction announced it wasn't going to turn out because the other factions were delaying the replacement of three Communist councilors.
