Chisinau district electoral council sends vote recount results to Centru court

The Chisinau district electoral council Tuesday transmitted the report on the results of the recount of the votes cast for the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) to the Centru district court. The court has ten days to validate the election outcome. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the council’s head Iulian Balan said the report was sent with delay because they had to draw up documents for every wrongly counted vote and indicate where the vote went. Under the law on the local public administration, the first meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council will be convened by the district electoral council within 20 days of the validation of the seats of councilor. The meeting will be chaired by the oldest councilor, until a chairman is elected. Centru district head Vladimir Sarban, a former secretary of the CMC, has told Info-Prim Neo that the factions, which consist of at least three councilors, and the permanent commissions of the Council are set up in the first meeting. The mayor general takes part in the meetings of the CMC and has the right to pronounce on all the issues debated. He proposes the candidates for deputy mayors, while the Council votes them in. According to Vladimir Sarban, a deadlock can be reached in this respect. The votes for the CMC were recounted on June 30, following an application submitted by the Liberal Party. The results remained unchanged. The PCRM obtained 26 seats of councilor, the PL – 17, the PLDM – 7, while the PDM – one seat.
