Chisinau residents complain of bad food

People from Chisinau complain of bad quality of food. They sign petitions to the Preventive Medicine Center from Chisinau accusing shop managers of negligence for the consumers' health. Consequently, the Center has carried out raids on stores in the capital, the chief doctor of the Center, Iurie Panzaru, told a news conference on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the official, his subalterns have found expired food, and inadequate conditions in which the food was kept. The managers are said not to take into account that they are legally bound to employ personnel, only if they are deemed suitable by doctors. Panzaru urges selling entity managers to give up the custom of setting expired products for sale. “It's you who'll suffer, because the buyers will not come for your services any more,” he said. “After raids, I have uncovered vendors suffering from salmonella or other diarrheal diseases. They entail a big risk to infect the products they sell,” Iurie Panzaru said. He has added, they applied fines worth 500,000 lei, they took products out of sale, as 200 people have been sacked. The lowest fine that a sanitary inspector may apply is 2,000 lei, while the biggest is – 20,000. According to an official of the Preventive Medicine Center, Olga Volcovschi, 73% of the diarrheal diseases this year have been transmitted through easily decaying food. Owners of shops have acknowledged for Info-Prim Neo there are problems. Speaking on the medical checkup the new employees shall be subjected to, they said many managers avoid doing this because it implies additional expenses.
