Persons who cast their ballots at polling place No. 79 in Chisinau’s Buiucani district said they are tired of so many elections, but want a mayor to be elected in the capital city. Most of them said they voted for a competent mayor who can ensure a better future for them and their children, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“There are permanently elections in Moldova. It is harder to choose a head, either of state or of Chisinau. Everyone wants to be a chief, but they are elected not so easy. I will take part in elections even if they are held every month because we choose the person who will manage our city,” said voter Maria, who refused to say her family name.
The residents of Chisinau want a European, modern and developed city with better streets and smaller bills.
“I voted for a better future, a cleaner city, good streets and higher salaries. They promised us this and we expect it to be done. I believe in the candidate I chose. I saw he can keep his word and did many good things,” said Elizaveta Andoni.
The people said they voted for a good manager of Chisinau, not a party representative.
Olga Burca said that the political orientation of the future mayor does not count for her family. The most important thing is that he be elected. “We are tired of elections, but should choose our mayor. He can be even from China, but should be a good manager,” she stated.
“All the candidates promise that if they are elected mayor, they will bring things in order, root out corruption and ensure a better future, but forget about their promises when they are voted in. I vote in every election and will continue to vote because it is we who should elect our mayor,” said Petru Scripnic.
Runoff mayoral elections are held today in Chisinau and another 511 settlements. The polling places close at 21.00.
