Coat of Arms could become a requirement for public buildings

Government and public buildings, including educational establishments, could be required to display the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova under a bill proposed by a group of Liberal-Democrat MPs, Info-Prim Neo reports. Among other buildings listed by the informative note accompanying the bill are the headquarters of diplomatic missions and border checkpoints. At the same time, the bill limits the use of the Coat of Arms imprints to official stamps and documents issued by public authorities, lottery tickets, national currency and coins minted by the National Bank of Moldova. The bill prohibits the use of the Coat of Arms in armed conflicts in which Moldova is not involved and in trade marks. The Coat of Arms cannot be used as a basis for other heraldic insignia, for the territorial units and individuals. Its use will also be prohibited in “unauthentic and nonmoral” advertising and on buildings which are dilapidated or are under repair. The authors stressed that the enactment of the bill will not entail additional costs, as the Coat of Arms will remain unchanged.
