Heavyweights of the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM) accuse the Security and Information Service (SIS) of accessing personal data of Communist lawmakers. In a news conference on September 2, representatives of the party said the SIS woks by order of the present administration, especially the Liberal Party, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Those who govern the country must be aware of the fact that these actions may later have an impact on them. Such acts must be condemned in a state of law. The SIS confirmed that it uses totalitarian KGB methods and became political police that is against the opposition. If the international organizations keep silent, they will thus consent to following the opposition. We address the honest SIS officers. The current administration of the Security and Information Service may be replaced tomorrow,” said Communist MP Alexandru Petcov.
He also said that during the campaign that preceded the mayoral elections in Chisinau, his personal data were accessed by the Ministry of the Interior, the National Social Insurance House, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, the State Guard and Protection Service, and the Security and Information Service. He presented several documents showing that he asked the SIS to explain its acts, but the answer he received did not satisfy him.
“We will submit one more application and enquire about the reasons for tapping the phones and accessing personal data. We will request the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate this case. If violations are identified, those to blame must be held accountable,” said Communist lawmaker Sergiu Sarbu.
He stated that actions aimed at the PCRM are staged especially before the period when the head of state is to be elected. He informed he will demand that the Parliament dismiss the administration of the SIS.
In a press release, the Liberal Party has announced that it will not comment on the statements made by the Communist MPs. “Their statements are aberrations designed to discredit the state institutions as the Communists want to make victims of themselves and pose as ‘victims of democracy’,” said the party .
Under the agreement reached by the member parties of the ruling alliance, the Security and Information Service was entrusted to the Liberal Party, which during the negotiations asked to be given the executive post in at least one law enforcement body of Moldova.
