Communist leader considers greatest failure in 2012 was witnessed on March 16

The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin believes that the greatest failure of the PCRM and of the whole Moldovan society was witnessed on March 16, when the President of Moldova was elected. “On March 16, the ruling alliance appropriated the state power and started to destroy all the democratic institutions. Everybody saw what happened after March 16,” Vladimir Voronin told Info-Prim Neo in an interview of the series “Year 2012 in Moldova’s and Moldovans’ life” {that was published on December 10, 2012}. When asked to name several accomplishments obtained by the PCRM in 2012, the Communist leader said the accomplishments are better seen in elections. “We didn’t have elections this year, but the greatest success of the PCRM was the fact that we managed to maintain the party’s authority at the same level, with the number of party members going up,” stated Vladimir Voronin. He also said that the funerals of the PCRM are announced two times a year, not rarer. “But the latest surveys show that we are in the lead and our rating didn’t diminish. This is important as it is hard for a party that has been in opposition for almost four years to keep its rating and authority,” stressed the Communist leader. Vladimir Voronin said that his party is the only one with a history of over 20 years and it’s not so easy to destroy it. Furthermore, the PCRM had been in power for eight years and the people can now compare how they lived under the Communists’ rule and how it is now. Vladimir Voronin believes that the conclusions drawn by the people will be seen in the next elections. The series of interviews “Year 2012 in Moldova’s and Moldovans’ life” that was launched by Info-Prim Neo on December 6 was opened by Prime Minister Vlad Filat. The next interviews will contain opinions about the performance of the passing year stated by the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Jennifer Brush, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, expert of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT Corneliu Gurin, director of the National Anticorruption Center Viorel Chetraru, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Moldova Boris Galca, head of the Community of Moldovans in Quebec Ala Mandacanu, and singer Cristofor Aldea Teodorovici.
