Communist leader says John Onoje is used by ruling parties

The chairman of the Communist Party considers that the Moldovan of African origin John Onoje is used by the ruling parties. In a program on Pro TV Chisinau channel on Monday evening, Vladimir Voronin said that Onoje is intentionally brought to the protests staged by the Communists and is even provided with guard, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The nephew of Pavlichenko (Vitalia Pavlichenko, the leader of the PNL – e.n.) is a shame for us, the Moldovans. What this person does is a national shame. The problem resides not in the color of the skin, but in the fact that he is being used,” said the Communist leader. Vladimir Voronin also said that John Onoje is brought to the protests by car and he has guard. “Up to seven persons guard him. Somebody needs him. The ruling parties do not have other sources and other methods of protesting against those demonstrations. They found him somewhere and bring him every Saturday and Sunday and put him in front of thousands of people,” said the Communist leader. Earlier, Amnesty International Moldova and the Nondiscrimination Coalition asked the prosecutors to take steps over the speech given by Vladimir Voronin in the Great National Assembly Square. According to the two organizations, on February 18 the politician made racist statements against John Onoje during a protest mounted by the Communist Party. John Onoje, who is native of Sierra Leone, formed part of a group of persons who protested against the Communists’ event near the Triumphal Arch.
