Communists demand Lupu's dismissal

The Communist parliamentary group has put forward a motion seeking the dismissal of Speaker Marian Lupu on grounds that he abused his authority when he failed to convoke an extraordinary meeting in Parliament at the Communists' request, Info-Prim Neo reports. MP Mark Tkaciuk told a Friday news conference that it was Lupu's duty to convoke a meeting called by a large group such as the Communists, for which violation he should be investigated by the General Prosecutor's Office. At the same news conference, MP Grigore Petrenco revealed that following recent reports on Russian gas negotiations the Communists submitted a motion requesting the Moldovan authorities to withdraw participation from the EU's Third Energy Package. Earlier this week, the Communists submitted a formal request for an extraordinary meeting in Parliament to consider Moldova's accession to the Russia-Kazakhstan Belarus Customs Union.
