Several dozen Communist sympathizers and lawmakers are protesting in front of the building of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. They demand holding open hearings on a number of issues of public interest in Parliament, IPN reports.
MP Iurie Muntean said the hearings must involve the Prime Minister and the ministers, not deputy ministers or other representatives of ministries. The head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita urged the Communist lawmakers to submit their request to the Standing Bureau, which compiles the agenda of the plenary sittings.
For September 25, the commission scheduled public hearings on the situation of Banca de Economii, the concession of the Chisinau International Airport, the embargo imposed by Russia on the imports of Moldovan wine and brandy, and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU. When discussing the agenda, it was proposed postponing the examination of these subjects until next week.
Sympathizers of the Party of Socialists also staged a protest in front of the building of the Ministry of Agriculture. They demanded examining the situation of Banca de Economii, the Chisinau International Airport and other institutions that are to be privatized in the first sitting of the Parliament’s autumn-winter session. The also asked constituting a commission of inquiry to investigate in detail the given cases and to hold accountable all those involved.
