The right to a job is a right that we must ensure and promote,” she stated.

The minister noted that the employment of 86 persons who help hire and train persons with disabilities who are out of work is a relevant accomplishment of the authorities. “We must admit that we have yet a lot to work for everyone to be provided with a job. That’s why I call on the employers to join in this process. Only together can we show solidarity and responsibility,” said Stela Grigoras.

Veaceslav Balan, National Coordinator at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said the right to work in equal conditions is a basic right and it is very important for this right to be promoted by the effort of the public authorities and civil society. “Such events are aimed at showing the whole country that it is possible for the persons with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova to be fully integrated into society and work. The initiatives to employ persons with disabilities ensure not only the right to work, but also the other rights, such as social inclusion. That’s why it is important for the employers that ensure the observance of these rights to be praised,” he stated.

Vitalie Mester, executive director of the Center for Legal Assistance for Persons with Disabilities, which hosted the event, said they aimed to achieve three objectives by the staged event: to highlight the companies that employ persons with disabilities; to emphasize the abilities of employed persons with disabilities, and to encourage other employers to follow the example of the companies that, in the course of the year, offered employment possibilities to disabled persons.

The awarded employers appreciated the performance of the employed persons with disabilities, saying these are responsible employees, and called on other companies to hire disabled persons.
