The Complaints Register is a ‘Soviet inheritance’ that will be eliminated. According to Minister of Economy Dumitru Alaiba, a relevant decision will be adopted by the next package of laws, IPN reports.
The official said the register is a ‘simple formality’ that does not bring any value added to consumer protection. “We now have a petitioning system, including in electronic form. Instead of writing a complaint in a half dead register kept by the company, one has bigger chances of being heard by writing directly to a state institution,” noted the minister.
Dumitru Alaiba said the keeping of the customer complaints log in Europe is an outdated practice. In Ukraine it was also eliminated long ago. “It is not the entrepreneur’s responsibility to keep records of customer complaints. There are state institutions that should keep such records if they need them. The entrepreneurs should focus on business development,” stated the official.
At the moment, the Complaints Register in Moldova is mandatory for tens of thousands of companies that interact with customers.
