The Premier’s requisition to dismiss the director of the National Anticorruption Center reached the Presidential Office in the afternoon of October 16 and the head of state is expected to take a decision on it next week, the head of the President’s Staff Ion Paduraru stated for IPN.
The adviser said the head of state was informed about the requisition and had already a discussion with Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet on the issue. The head of state gave the internal instructions required in this case. Most probably, Nicolae Timofti will have a meeting with Viorel Chetraru and will afterward pronounce on his dismissal.
On October 16, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet demanded that the director of the National Anticorruption Center Viorel Chetraru should be dismissed. Among the invoked reasons are the rising corruption perception index and the discretional and selective approach to the fight against corruption, which led to a very low output in the Center’s activity.
