A series of meetings entitled “Strengthening and development of libraries, axis of implementation of the new strategic and regulatory framework” will be held in Chisinau on November 1-2 on the occasion of the 185th anniversary of the foundation of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. The meetings will bring together representatives of the national libraries of Romania, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Sweden, IPN reports.
According to the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, the meetings are organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the Conference of Directors of European National Libraries and the National Program “Novateca”. They will also involve managers of national, departmental and local libraries and bibliotechonomic centers.
An international conference entitled “Development of cooperation between European libraries in the virtual area” will be held starting at 10am on November 1. Representatives of five European national libraries that are members of the Conference of European National Librarians will take part in this. Welcoming speeches will be given by Minister of Education Monica Babuc, “Novateca” director Evan Tracz and National Library director general Elena Pintilei.
On the second part of the day, the managers will discuss problems related to the global view of the library, the future of the area, diversification and optimization of services provided by libraries at two workshops.
On November 2, starting at 9am, the National Library will host the annual forum of managers of the national system of libraries that will center on topical problems and international trends in bibliotechonomy and will set the priorities for the bibliotechonomic year 2018.
