The deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vadim Pistrinciuc considers the largest part of the population wants early parliamentary elections, while the president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov asserts the opposite. Contradictory statements on the issue were made in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
“Things actually do not stand like this. Maybe the people wanted early legislative elections when there was no government and the situation was unstable. A parliamentary alliance was formed and this voted in the Government. We are not afraid of early elections. We are ready for them, but they must be constitutional. Personally, I’m against early elections. I think that we will not have early elections,” stated Dumitru Diacov.
According to him, the parliamentary alliance hasn’t yet agreed a candidate for the presidency. “We didn’t have discussions about the candidate for the post of President, not even in narrower circles. But we will guarantee that the future head of state will be a competent person who will be able to reconcile society with the political class,” said the Democratic heavyweight.
Vadim Pistrinciuc replied that most probably the process of choosing the candidate for the presidency will be non-transparent. “I doubt that the procedure for electing the President will be democratic. The process should have been underway already. The fact that they do not discuss this issue is suspicious. They will ultimately skip over the consultations with civil society and will hasten the process. They will act as in the case of the investiture of the Government,” he stated.
