Communist MP Igor Dodon claims the component parties of the ruling Alliance for European Integration are fighting with one another about money for their campaigns in light of the upcoming general local elections, and this is the reason why the consideration of the 2011 Budget Bill is delayed, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Speaking at the Parliament's session on Thursday, Dodon suggested that the Government should resign since it was unable to make progress with such a crucial bill.
“When the component parts of a coalition are unable to reach consensus on key legislative proposals, with the Budget Bill being the most important of them, coalitions fall apart and governments resign. Such cases have occured in some countries in Europe, as well”.
Igor Dodon further stated that if the national budget is not adopted in the next few days, high chances are that pensioners will not get their pensions indexed and most investment projects in the country's districts will continue to stall.
Communist leader Vladimir Voronin told reporters after the session that the delay in adopting the budget for this year may also delay the adoption of the budget for the next year.
Cabinet debates on the Budget Bill were supposed to start on March 5, but were postponed over disagreements between the three parties of the ruling coalition. According to Alliance's top members, attempts will be renewed at the Cabinet's sitting on Saturday, March 12.
