Dorin Chirtoaca returns to City Hall

Dorin Chirtoaca will return to the Chisinau City Hall in the nearest future as he resigned from the post of mayor in order to be able to take part in the parliamentary elections. Chirtoaca made the announcement himself in the program “Fourth power” on N4 channel, IPN reports.

The deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) said he renounced the seat of MP in favor of the post of mayor of Chisinau, as he promised in the election campaign. “The parties that will form the alliance are holding negotiations and things will be decided by consensus. The party that gets the highest number of seats takes over the Government. This is the Liberal Reformist Party. The parties that won a lower number of votes, like the PL, take over the agencies and other state bodies. Thus, I will return to the City Hall. If the PL had won the highest number of votes and had had the right to field the candidate for Prime Minister, the situation would have been different,” he stated.

Dorin Chirtoaca confirmed that the three parties reached an agreement as to the formation of a government coalition, saying all the details should be negotiated. “I think there is no need to hurry and to form the Cabinet in a record period of time. All the details should be agreed so that no fissures appear in the alliance later,” he stated.

He also expressed his optimism that the head of state could be elected in 2016.

Dorin Chirtoaca was the second on the PL’s list of candidates for MP running in the November 30 elections, in which the Liberal Party won 13 seats of lawmaker. The seat vacated by Chirtoaca will be occupied by the Chisinau City Hall functionary Mihaela Iacob, who is under No. 14 on the PL’s list.
