Current mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who is running for a new term in office, cast his vote at 8.00. He said he voted for the modernization of Chisinau and continuation of the commenced projects, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I expect that the residents of Chisinau will actively take part in the elections so that each of them says what they want the City Hall and the mayor to do during the next four years. The turnout is crucial,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He did not rule out the possibility of scoring a victory in the first round of voting, but said that he does not mind if there are two rounds. Asked by Info-Prim Neo if early legislative elections may take place after the local elections, Dorin Chirtoaca said that Moldova held too many elections. Normally, they should take place once in four years, he stressed. Dorin Chirtoaca is under No. 13 in the ballot.
