The honorific president of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov announced that he offered the post of leader of the Democratic faction in Parliament to the chairman of the PDM  Marian Lupu. The announcement was made after the meeting of the PDM’s National Political Council, IPN reports.

Dumitru Diacov told the journalists that together with Vlad Plahotniuc, who renounced the seat of MP, he will devote time to the work within the party and on the field. He said that Marian Lupu is the party’s leader and should have a closer connection with the MPs.  He added that more actions will follow showing that the Democrats will make effort for the legislative body to complete its mandate.

Marian Lupu told the journalists that a party is a living organism that is in need of continuous movement. “These actions count a lot as next year is an electoral year and there is a lot of work to be done in this direction. We should not forget that every party needs movement that would bring maximum efficiency to the team,” he stated.

One hour before the meeting of the Political Council, Vlad Plahotniuc announced that he decided to vacate the seat of MP as he wants to show that he has nothing to hide behind the parliamentary immunity and because he wants to communicate more with people from villages and to launch several social projects.
