Seven candidates representing political parties and an independent candidate were registered as runners in the mayoral elections that will take place in Balti municipality on May 20.
Contacted by IPN, deputy head of the Balti District Electoral Council Iulian Paciurca said only the application of Boris Marcoci was rejected. This intended to run as an independent, but presented an insufficient number of signatures in his support.
Elena Gritsko is the only independent candidate for the mayoralty of Balti. She managed to collect over 5,000 signatures, about 300 of which were declared invalid. The candidates who represent political parties are: Alexandru Usatyi, of the Party of Socialists; Arina Spataru, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”; Pavel Verejan, of the Shor Party; Nicolae Grigorishin, of “Our Party”; Sergiu Burlacu, of the National Unity Party; Simion Gutu, of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, and Oleg Topolnitski, of the Russian-Slavic Party of Moldova.
