Elections in Condratesti village to be rerun on June 26
The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided that the rerun mayoral elections in Condratesti village of Ungheni district will take place on June 26, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The voting process in the settlement on June 19 was stopped by a decision of the Ungheni district court following a mistake made in the ballot.
Three persons with the same name - Ion Bodrug – competed for the post of mayor of Condratesti in the first round of the elections on June 5. Each of them represented by a party of the Alliance for European Integration. The candidates of the PLDM and PL won the largest number of votes, but, owing to a technical mistake, the PDM’s candidate was written on the ballot instead of the PLDM’s candidate.
The rerun elections on June 26 will be organized by the same electoral council and the same electoral offices of the polling place. The CEC also approved a special stamp “Local Elections 26.06.2011”. The electoral rolls will be rewritten. “The lists will include all the eligible voters of the settlement, including those who will come of age on June 26,” said CEC president Iurie Ciocan.
There are about 1,000 persons eligible to vote in Condratesti.
