Legislative elections will be held in Hungary on April 6. In Moldova, the persons holding Hungarian nationality will be able to vote at the Embassy of Hungary in Chisinau, situated at 131 Stefan cel Mare Blvd, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Embassy of Hungary in Moldova, the polling place will be opened between 6am and 7pm, Moldova’s time. If the Hungarian nationals with domicile in Hungary want to vote abroad, they must make sure that they are transferred from the electoral rolls compiled at the place of permanent domicile in Hungary to the list of the embassy where they intend to vote. The transfer must be made by March 29, 4pm through the website www.valasztas.hu, by personally submitting an application to the notary of the local mayor’s office in Hungary or through the Client Gates “Ügyfélkapu”, online through www.magyarorszag.hu
The electors can vote in person for a candidate from an electoral district and from the national list of parties, using the identity card, the passport or the driver’s license.
The people with Hungarian nationality who do not live in Hungary will be able to vote in the Hungarian parliamentary elections for the first time. If they want to cast their ballots, they must have their names included in the electoral lists by March 22, online on www.valasztas.hu or by filling out the registration form that can be sent by mail to the National Election Office (Nemzeti Választási Iroda), based at 1854, Budapest (the form is available at the Embassy of Hungary and on http://www.valasztas.hu/hu/ovi/content/nevjegyzekbe_veteli_kerelem.pdf), or through the Client Gates “Ügyfélkapu”, online through www.magyarorszag.hu
The people registered at the National Election Office will send a voting package to the address indicated when registering. They will be able to vote by correspondence only candidates from the national list of parties, not yet from the list of a certain district.
The voting package includes: the ballot for correspondence voting (valid without stamp) – “Szavazólap”, the form for the identification statement – “Azonosításhoz szükséges nyilatkozat”, envelope for the ballot – “belső boríték”, a response envelope for sending the ballot back to the National Election Office, which can be sent gratis from Hungary or from abroad – “válaszboríték”.
When voting by correspondence, the person must fill out the ballot, put it in the envelope and then must obligatorily close the envelope. The filled out identification statement form is put, together with the envelope with the ballot, in the response envelope, which must be obligatorily closed and sent to the National Election Office by April 5, 12 midnight. The package can be also taken to any of the embassies of Hungary between March 24 and April 4, on workdays, or to a polling place in an electoral district in Hungary on the voting day, between 6am and 7pm.
The Hungarian citizens from Moldova, without domicile in Hungary, are urged to register on www.valasztas.hu as soon as possible. For assistance, one can call Consul Bárkányi József on 00-373-22-22-34-04, E-mail: jbarkanyi@mfa.gov.hu; or the Consular Section’s head Sass Gyula Levente on 00-373-22-22-34-04, E-mail: gysass@mfa.gov.hu.
