Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked that the persons who were hurt in the two accidents involving trolleybuses on January 29 and February 2 should be paid damages. He demanded punishing the officials in charge of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the February 4 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Dorin Chirtoaca said that immediately after the accidents, the administration of the company should have called a news conference to inform about the measures taken by it. “I will wait for a report on these cases and all the measures taken to increase the security degree until this evening. If such cases repeat, the responsible persons will be discharged,” said the mayor.
Chisinau Electric Transport Company director Gheorghe Morgoci said the driver of the trolleybus that collided with a bus running on route was fired. In the second case, the woman who drove the trolleybus was fined 100 lei and got six penalty points. Internal inquiries were launched in both of the cases.
Gheorghe Morgoci said the two trolleybuses involved in accidents are over 20 years old. In order to reduce the risk of road accidents, the trolleybuses of such an age will be subject to technical overhaul at shorter intervals.
Two persons suffered minor injuries in the January 29 accident.
