EU foreign policy chief welcomes formation of new Government

Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, welcomed the formation of the new Moldovan Government in a statement issued several hours after the Moldovan Parliament approved today, January 14, the second Filat Cabinet, Info-Prim Neo reports. “This is an extremely important step for the country’s democratic development. I am confident that the new government will continue to build on the substantial progress, which has been achieved in EU-Moldova relations”. The EU foreign policy chief also expressed her hope that all the political forces represented in the Moldova Parliament would show constructivism and openness in the election of the Moldovan President. In concluding, Catherine Ashton stated that the European Union's remained committed to deepening its relations with the Republic of Moldova and to supporting it in implementing an ambitious reform and EU approximation agenda.
