Eugen Doga and Ballet Theater iron out arguments over Luceafarul show
Eugen Doga has reached an agreement with the administration and the artistic board of the Opera and Ballet Theater on the production of the Luceafarul show in the version of Russian choreographer Georgi Kovtun of St. Petersburg. The composer was dissatisfied with the fact that he hadn't been asked for his consent to use his music in the show and also because the name of the famous poet and director Emil Loteanu, whose libretto inspired Doga, hadn't been mentioned.
Eugen Doga has told Info-Prim Neo that all his requests will be satisfied. The artist also dismissed press reports that he wanted to have the ballet banned, saying he just wanted everything to be right.
Luceafarul (The Morning Star), composed in 1983, is a ballet with cantata features, whose instrumental core combines elements of choral arts and soloist skills. Doga has been inspired by Emil Loteanu's libretto, which had a homonyms poem by Mihai Eminescu as the source.
