The Government in August-October will carry out a number of activities intended for the Moldovan diaspora abroad. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca told a news conference that the events are aimed at improving the public policies in the country by implementing the best practices and by consulting the Moldovans who settled abroad, IPN reports.

“We are launching a series of activities designed to the diaspora. By these activities we will create an efficient communication framework with the diaspora with a view to improving the public policies,” said the Premier.

On August 21-27, there will be held the second Longing Camp. Iurie Leanca underlined that many children of Moldovan migrants will come to the country where they will be able to better study  the language and traditions and to establish friendships with their mates from Moldova.

The Diaspora Days will be held in Moldova for the first time, on August 28-30. Iurie Leanca said the Government aims to stage such an event annually. On August 28, the Government will hold the Open Doors Day. During several hours, all the ministers will be available to answer migrants’ questions. On August 29, there will be held a public policies seminar within which young foreign experts will analyze the policies in Moldova and will formulate proposals for improving them. On August 30, the ethnic-cultural complex “Vatra” will host the Diaspora Festival.

The next event is the sixth Diaspora Congress that is convened once in two years. The Premier stated that it will involve 124 delegates of different organizations of Moldovans from 25 countries. The event will center on ways of improvising the public policies for migrants.

On October 6-7, there will be held the first Business Forum of the Diaspora, in Chisinau. It will be attended by 120 businessmen from abroad who are native of Moldova. Iurie Leanca noted that Moldova will be unable to get rid of the image of the poorest country in Europe and to overcome the discrepancies with other European states if it does not put forward innovative ideas to change the situation in the country.
