The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases completed the investigation and sent to court the criminal case started against former MP Iurie Bolboceanu over treason, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases says Iurie Bolboceanu is accused of collecting and furnishing information of national interest that can be used to harm Moldova during October 2016 – March 2017, being recruited by expert officers of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, in exchange for reward.
The furnished information consisted of data about the strategies and tactics of national legislative reforms of major importance, collected from political decision makers, personal data of high-ranking officials, promoters of political reforms, implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, legislative intentions and plans of parliamentary groups, etc.
If he is found guilty of treason, Iurie Bolboceanu will serve 12 to 20 years in jail.
