When the order to implement the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice is made, former Prime Minister Vlad Filat will be transferred from Penitentiary No.13 to another prison where he will serve his sentence.
“When the decision implementation order is issued, within ten days this will be transferred to a penitentiary where he will serve his sentence,” press officer of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions Anisoara Botez stated for IPN.
The Supreme Court of Justice on February 22 rejected the appeals of Filat’s lawyers as inadmissible and unfounded.
By the decision of the Buiucani Court of June 27, 2016, Vlad Filat was sentenced to nine years in jail and fined 60,000 lei. He was also deprived of property to the value of 791 million lei. The decision was upheld by the Chisinau Appeals Court.
Vlad Filat pleaded not guilty. His lawyers intend to go to the European Court of Human Rights.
