The days of August 16 and 17 are dedicated to the Moldovan diaspora. In this regard, the Government of Moldova organizes a series of events under the theme of "Days of the Diaspora", which include exhibitions, conferences and socializing activities.

Victoria Comerzan, Diaspora Relations Office chief consultant, told IPN that the event is organized annually in August, according to a government decision approved in June 2017. "The purpose of the event is to strengthen, intensify and maintain links between the government and the diaspora" said Victoria Comerzan. Both citizens form within the country and from the diaspora are welcome to attend the events.

According to an August 16 government press release, the "Anywhere Moldova" exhibition, organized by representatives of the diaspora, will be held at the Palace of the Republic. At 9.30, a charity fair will start.

Beginning with 10.00, the official opening of the Days of the Diaspora will take place. President Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Maia Sandu and foreign, finance and economy ministers will give greeting speeches. Among foreign speakers is Andrea Cuzyova, deputy resident representative of UNDP Moldova and Victoria Gellis, USAID interim chief in Moldova.

Also on August 16, the "Voting in the diaspora" conference will be held, as well as two working sessions organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and, respectively, by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

The first evening of the Days of the Diaspora will end with a reception.

On August 17, a trip for Costesti will be organized, where, at the local resort complex, team-building and sports activities will be held.

Also, according to the press release, from August 19 to 28, the DOR program, a camp for children from the diaspora, will be arranged. "Within the program, creative, sporting, artistic, linguistic, knowledge of history, knowledge of culture, cultural visits and meetings with different personalities from the country will be organized", the statement said.
