Experts perceive results of IMAS poll in different ways

The recent poll carried out by the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS shows that things have improved compared with the poll of last April. The results of this survey were discussed in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel. At the same time, the invitees to Jurnal TV’s program “Expertise hour” had negative opinions about the poll results.

The permanent invitee of the program “Fabrika”, journalist Cristian Tabara said the figures do not look bad and, if there had been better communication between the government coalition and the people, they would have looked better.

Political commentator Roman Mihaes also approved of the poll results. “Compared with the poll of April 2013, which was conducted in the height of the political crisis and which forecast a result of 54% for the Communists, this poll anticipates better results for the pro-European parties, influenced by the abolition of the visa requirements by the EU, the signing of the Association Agreement and the war in Ukraine, which left a deep imprint and was like an emotional bomb for the Moldovans,” he stated.

In the same program, IMAS director Doru Petrutsi explained why Communists’ chances in elections decreased almost two times. “The PCRM had not been very visible and involved in discussions lately. It seems that they didn’t manage to identify solutions, especially following the internal conflicts and the defection by some of the MPs, which had a serous impact. Now more parties will be interested in attracting their voters,” he stated.

On the other hand, the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu, in the program ““Expertise hour”, said the poll was carried out by order of oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc. “This poll is an offense against our society. If we discuss seriously this sham, we will play the game of Plahotniuc. The only fact that worries me in such activities is that the election outcome can be fixed so that it is like in the polls,” he stated.

One of the leaders of the Party of Socialists on Ceban also said that the poll was financed by Vladimir Plahotniuc. The member of the Liberal Reformist Party Valeriu Saharneanu described its results as an insult and attempt to remove the PLR from the political game.

According to the results of the poll carried out by IMAS, if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, five parties would enter the legislative body. These are: the Communist Party with 23.4% of the vote, the Liberal Democratic Party with 18.6%, the Democratic Party with 10.7%, the Liberal Party with 6.3%, and a party that would be headed by Renato Usatyi with 6.7%. The survey was commissioned by IPN.
