Inspectors of the National Food Safety Agency found 9 kg of sausages and 3 liters of milk with the expired shelf life at a kindergarten in Drochia. The products were seized. Another over 1,000 institutions inspected didn’t respect the hygienic conditions for preparing and keeping food and were issued with prescriptions for removing the irregularities, while 21 eateries in Criuleni district stopped work for 10 days, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Angela Chiriac, head of the Agency’s Distribution Trade and Food Products Consumption Surveillance Division, said that during a month the Agency’s inspectors will draw up over 1,300 relevant documents with recommendations for improving the work of the inspected institutions.
The irregularities discovered in the eateries include the absence of hot water, thermometers and temperature monitoring registers in refrigerating units and lack of documents accompanying the food products.
The inspectors will carry out repeated inspections and, if they find the same violations, they can withdraw the authorizations of the given units. They will also compile reports that will be sent to court.
Most of the irregularities as regards food safety in schools and kindergartens were identified in the districts of Soroca, Criuleni Ocnita, Leova, and Telenesti.
