Filat and Putin discuss potential reduction in gas price

Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat discussed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about a new five-year agreement for Russian gas supply to Moldova that would provide for a potential reduction in price, Info-Prim Neo learned from a governmental press release. The Russian premier stated he would communicate the request to the relevant authorities who would examine it and take the corresponding decision. The discussion was held in St. Petersburg on the margins of the Summit of CIS Heads of State. Filat also requested the extension of the license of the Terminal Solntsevo –one of the two terminals handling imports of Moldovan wines to Russia – which expires on Wednesday. Vladimir Putin replied that instructions to that effect would be given. Talking about the Transnistrian issue, the interlocutors welcomed the announced resumption of formal 5+2 negotiations, expressing their confidence that a viable solution would be found. The premiers also talked about trade and humanitarian issues. “Although throughout time the relationship between our countries has seen good times and less better times, it is important that today our relations are good and constructive”, stated Vladimir Putin. Vlad Filat stressed the need to maintain a positive dynamics in the bilateral relationship and recalled that soon Moldova and Russian would mark 20 years since diplomatic contacts were established.
