Premier Vlad Filat is the people’s most trusted politician, followed by Vladimir Voronin and Dorin Chirtoaca. According to a poll by CBS AXA, presented on Tuesday, July 24, 39% of respondents completely trust Vlad Filat, 38% trust the PCRM leader, and 37% trust Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. Speaker Marian Lupu has the trust of 31% of respondents, and President Nicolae Timofti 23%, reports Info-Prim Neo. If parliamentary elections would take place next Sunday, 31.6% said that they would vote for the PCRM, 20.7% for the PLDM, 8.4% for the PL, and 7.9% for the PDM. The PSD would accumulate 1.3% of ballots, and would not pass the election threshold. 28% of respondents either said that they wouldn’t vote or that they don’t know whom to vote for. Ion Jigau, head of Sociological Investigations and Marketing Center of CBS AXA, said that the ratings of Alliance members are falling, whereas the PCRM maintains its popularity share. “There is still time until the real elections in 2014. The situation may have changed by then, and will greatly depend on the Party’s ability to mobilize and on their image at that moment”, said the CNS-AXA director. Almost 60% of the respondents are absolutely sure that they would go to vote if Sunday was Election Day. Other 18% are sure that they would go, 7.5% say that they would probably go to vote, almost 5% probably wouldn’t go, and around 9% are sure they wouldn’t go. When asked if the current Parliament should be dissolved and another one formed, 50.1% answered with a no, 43.4% said yes, and 6.7% have no opinion on the subject. “As you can see, the society is split in half”, Ion Jigau noted. The poll was done between July 6 and 15, 2012. The sample represents the adult population of Moldova, with a ±3% margin of error. 1,228 people with ages over 18, from 91 settlements, were questioned.
