Filip Government voted in

The Government headed by Democrat Pavel Filip was given a vote of confidence. The 57 MPs who formed a parliamentary coalition voted in favor. The January 20 special sitting of Parliament involved 68 lawmakers, IPN reports.

“We assume more complex responsibility - to form the Government that will represent the last chance for Moldova. The Republic of Moldova now needs a stable parliamentary coalition and a realistic and reformist Government more than ever. The expectations of this Government are great at internal and external levels. We know that everything started from the lack of confidence owing to the political wars. We must bring things to normality as the people are tired of wars. The politicians need to work together. I will make effort to facilitate the dialogue and cooperation between the state institutions. I’m not a man of conflicts. I think a constructive dialog can prevent disagreements,” stated Pavel Filip.

In the medium term, the priorities of the Filip Government are to increase the people’s welfare by ensuring economic growth and to support the socially deprived groups of people, to fight corruption, to reform justice and the rule of law institutions, to reunify the country and ensure access to high quality education and health.

To ensure optimal, sustainable and inclusive economic growth, the economic policies will be based on such key principles as economic freedom and equal conditions for all the economic entities, loyal competition, entrepreneurial support, balancing of employers’ and employees’ interests, including by adopting new customs, fiscal and labor codes. The Government’s efforts will be aimed at improving the competitiveness and the quality of the national goods and at increasing exports, including by increasing investments into the economic infrastructure, developing modern agriculture and creating an attractive and motivating environment for investments.

The Government also aims to build a society based on the social European model. In this regard, the key tasks are to invest in the development of human resources, to ensure equal chances, to correctly and justly redistribute the incomes to socially disadvantaged groups and to protect the people from any kind of discrimination. Investments in education, science, information technology and electronic services represent the foundations of society and of an economy based on knowledge and innovation.

The members of the Cabinet are to swear an oath before President Nicolae Timofti.
