The Central Election Commission (CEC) on December 5 made public the final results of the November 30 elections and will submit them to the Constitutional Court for validation. According to the final results, 1 649 402 voters took part in the elections. This is 57.28% of those included on the voter rolls or 55.8% together with the voters written on the additional lists. The contenders that passed the election threshold are: the PSRM with 20.51% of the ballot, the PLDM with 20.16%, the PCRM with 17.48%, the PDM with 15.80% and the PL with 9.67%, IPN reports.
Based on the valid ballots, the CEC calculated an electoral coefficient of 15 826 votes per seat of MP. After dividing the number of votes polled by each contender that passed the election threshold and redistributing the remaining seats, the PSRM was allotted 21 seats plus four of those redistributed (25 overall), the PLDM – 20+3 (23), the PCRM – 18+3 (21), the PDM – 16+3 (19), while the PL – 10+3 (13).
Within ten days of the receipt of the documents from the CEC, the Constitutional Court validates or invalidates the elections and the seats of the elected MPs and confirms the lists of substitute candidates. If the elections are validated, the CEC issues permits to the elected lawmakers. The newly elected Parliament holds the constitution sitting within 30 days of the elections, when the President of Moldovan convenes it.
