The adaptation of the European Union's regulatory framework in the field of cyber diplomacy in the accession process of the Republic of Moldova was discussed during the first round of bilateral Moldovan-Dutch consultations held in Chisinau. The agenda included topical issues related to cyber diplomacy in Moldova and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The best practices for managing cyber threats in the process of digitization of many national processes were discussed, IPN reports.
The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Valeriu Mija, underlined "the importance of the efforts made by the Republic of Moldova to cultivate a culture of security among the population and to strengthen the legislative and institutional framework to protect the national cyberspace, which is becoming increasingly digitized".
The Moldovan official also emphasized the need for collaboration in view of the "growing cyber threats targeting both government institutions and the private sector".
Ernst Noorman, Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, reaffirmed his support for capacity building of the Republic of Moldova in the field of digitization, diplomacy and cybersecurity.
The Dutch official emphasized the importance of a constant exchange of best practices, experiences and lessons learned to increase national resilience, as well as support to adapt the regulatory framework to EU standards.
During their visit to Chisinau, the Dutch delegation examined ongoing practical projects and the priorities of the Republic of Moldova in this field. The parties agreed on the need to intensify bilateral cooperation by exchanging best practices and developing joint mechanisms to strengthen cyber resilience in the face of hybrid threats, the MFA said.
