On the eve, the Chisinau City Hall issued a press release by which its expresses its concern about the possible repeated blocking of Stefan cel Mare Blvd and its intention to sue the organizers of the protests, including because the Chisinau residents’ right to move on the streets of the city will be infringed.

“On October 12, 2015, the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova submitted a preliminary statement to the Chisinau City Hall, whereby it informs that it intends to stage a protest in the square before the Parliament Building on October 15, 2015. The organizers also asked diverting the public transport from Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd and preventing traffic from moving on the main artery of Chisinau between 12am and 6pm on October 15, 2015,” it is said in the press release.

In this connection, the municipality made the following statement: “The protest scheduled for October 15, 2015, in the form announced by the organizers, by halting traffic on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd, runs counter to the Law on Assembly. When public events are held, including meetings, the organizers take all the necessary measures not to cause disproportionate inconvenience to the participants or passersby. By this event, the organizers will hamper public transport, while the citizens of Chisinau will be unable to lawfully move on the streets of the city. The Chisinau City Hall will file a lawsuit so as to ban the holding of the protest by stopping traffic on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd.”
