First tender to build 105 MW wind and 60 MW solar farms has been launched

In a first for Moldova, a tender process has been launched to build onshore wind power farms with a capacity of up to 105 MW and photovoltaic stations with a maximum capacity of 60 MW, the Ministry of Energy announced.

The facilities will be built by investors which following the tender will receive “large eligible producer” status along with guarantees that the energy they produce will be bought in the next 15 years.

“With this auction, we aim to offer local and international companies the opportunity to invest in Moldova. We insisted on having extensive consultations with the business community and interested parties in order to establish conditions for participation in the tender that are as favorable and bureaucracy-free as possible. The greatest thing about this process is that everybody wins: we offer business opportunities, we contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector and higher energy independence of the country, and, through competition, we bring the most affordable prices for the final consumer”, declared Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov.

The deadline for submitting bids is 31 March 2025, 23.59 (EET). The opening of the bids will take place on April 1, 2025, at 09:00.

The winning investors will be offered a guaranteed fixed price for a period of 15 years for the generated electricity. The price will be determined during the tender procedure and may not exceed 1.5 lei/kWh for wind and 1.67 lei/kWh for solar energy, as capped by the National Energy Regulatory Agency.
