Fist fight at National Institute of Justice

Fist fight at National Institute of Justice The head of the National Institute of Justice Eugenia Fistican is accused of tolerating violence in her office, while her daughter Elena Istrati of beating a colleague of her. The accusations were made by the victim's brother Igor Hadarca. Eugenia Fistican admits that her daughter slapped Victoria Hadarca as she offended her, but denies that Elena hit her on the head as Victoria's brother asserts, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, Igor Hadaraca related that the incident happened on May 14. An argument arouse over a dismissal order that Victoria Hadarca did not want to sign. Until last September, when she became an unattached student of the National Institute of Justice, Victoria Hadarca headed the Institute's research division. She was suspended from the post for the period of the studies. “Victoria was told to sign the order on her dismissal from the post, but that order issued by the Institute's head was illegal and ran counter to the suspension ordinance made by the same person in September 2009,” said Igor Hadarca. When Victoria Hadarca was called to the Institute's head, in the office there were Eugenia Fistican, her daughter Elena Istrati, who headed the group of which Victoria Hadarca forms part, the deputy head and the adviser to the head. As Victoria refused to sign the order, she was hit on the head by Elena Istrati, said the victim's brother, adding that Victoria was admitted to the hospital with a cranial-cerebral trauma and a concussion. As a result of this incident, Elena Istrati was fined 500 lei. Igor Hadarca considers that the punishment is too mild. He lodged applications with the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Council of Magistrates and the Board of the National Institute of Justice, asking that Elena Istrati's actions be assessed objectively and that Eugenia Fistican be dismissed for tolerating violence in her office. Asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment, Eugenia Fistican said he daughter Elena Istrati slapped Victoria Hadarca. “She did it because Victoria insulted me, saying I don't know the law and the Labor Code, and tore the order up,” said Eugenia Fistican. She stated yet that Victoria went out of her office healthy and the doctors' diagnosis was false. Eugenia Fistican also said that Victoria was called to her office to be familiarized with the order to dismiss her from the post of division head because the order she issued on September 29 expired. “A suspension order cannot be valid for 18 months,” she said, adding that after that incident she had to sign an order to expel her daughter from the Institute.
