Vlad Filat put forward five theses in support of the election of the head of state and avoidance of early elections. They are addressed to the heads of the PL and PCRM that, according to the Liberal-Democratic leader, are ready to push Moldova towards early elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We permanently say that we do not have the necessary number of votes in Parliament to elect the President. Today we have the votes, but do not have will. We should be realistic as we are not in the situation to choose out of several possibilities and the time is playing against us. The possible early elections will not stop time for Moldova and will lead to a more serious crisis that now. There are five points which both Mister Ghimpu and the PCRM should take account of as they gave clear signals that they are ready to push the country towards early elections,” said Vlad Filat.
The first point is that the early elections would block again Moldova for at least six months. This means considerable negative effects on the Moldovan citizens.
The second point is that the early elections will coincide with the second wave of the economic crisis forecast by the most important international financial organizations.
The third point is that the already late reforms may be stopped and this would lead to a negative reaction on the part of the development partners.
“The new elections that may take place event if there is the necessary number of votes needed to elect the head of state may lead to a loss of credibility at foreign level,” Vlad Filat said, referring to the fourth point.
The fifth point is that the people are against new elections and the possible early elections will be held against the people’s will.
According to Vlad Filat, the risk that Moldova will have to hold again early elections is increasing owing to Mihai Ghimpu’s irresponsibility. “We had discussions on the political situation with Mister Dodon, but they were every time interrupted by the colleagues from the alliance,” said Vlad Filat, adding that they had to put up with Mihai Ghimpu’s hysteria in many of the AEI meetings involving Igor Dodon.
Vlad Filat stressed the only solution is for the AEI leaders to sit at the negotiating table, discuss calmly and identify a solution as soon as possible.
