The eighth-finals of the Moldova Cup brought little surprises as all the seven encounters played on Wednesday were won by top league clubs, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Last Cup's finalists {Dacia Chisinau} defeated their hosts Viitorul Orhei, 2-0, with both goals scored by Ghanian striker Eric Sackey.
Playing on their pitch {Zimbru Chisinau} battered the third-league club of the Agrarian University, 8-0. Veaceslav Sofroni scored a hat-trick, and Gheorghe Andronic, Eugen Sidorenco and Pavel Trofin bagged doubles.
Current premiership leader {Iskra-Stal Râbniţa} scored a narrow victory against second-echelon Olimp Ungheni, 1-0. The only goal was scored from a penalty kick by Nicolae Rudac minutes before the final whistle.
{Olimpia Balti} passed by another representative of the second echelon, RS Lilcora Chisinau, 2-1. The Balti-based club earned the victory with the help of Sergiu Grituc and an own goal by Stefan Burghiu, while Andrei Donici scored for the guests.
{FC Tiraspol} had a tough nut to crack in the match against FC Cahul-2005, but eventually made it to the quarterfinals with a goal scored in added time (118 minutes). The match ended 3-2.
{Academia UTM Chisinau} came out victorious in the encounter with Nistru Otaci, 2-0. An own goal by Ilie Mostovei completed the score after Igor Lambarschi found the target first.
{Dinamo Bender} won narrowly, 1-0, against third-division CSF Cricova. Denis Chiriliuc scored the only goal at the end of the first half.
The last fixture of the Round of 16, which was supposed to be played by Sheriff Tiraspol and CSCA-Rapid Ghidighici, was postponed until November 22.
The quarterfinals will be played in two legs, on November 22 and 28. Here are the fixtures for the first one:
