The former presidents of Banca de Economii (BEM) and Banca Sociala and three members of the boards of the two banks were charged by anticorruption prosecutors in the stealing case on May 8, IPN reports, quoting the National Anticorruption Center.
The same day, the Buiucani Court placed the former president of the BEM and a former member of the board of Banca Sociala under house arrest for a period of 30 days. The prosecutors intend to challenge the court’s decision and to demand that the two should be taken to the remand unit of the National Anticorruption Center
On May 6, the Buiucani Court placed businessman Ilan Shor under house arrest for 30 days. The same day, the prosecutor examining this case disputed the court’s decision. On May 11, the Appeals Court is to pronounce on the issue.
