Formuzal accused of not cooperating with People’s Assembly
A number of officials in Gagauzia accused Bashkan (Governor) Mihail Formuzal of not cooperating with them and of influencing the relevant bodies not to implement the decisions approved by the local legislative body, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We adopted over 300 decisions during the last three years and a half. The people come with different problems and if we approve decisions the Bashkan starts to exert pressure so that these decisions are not carried out,” first deputy head of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Demian Caraseni said in a news conference in Chisinau on Wednesday.
“17 million lei, which was intended for mayors’ offices for paying salaries, was taken from the budget last year. Now all the mayors’ offices have salary arrears. We tried to include incomes from other sources in the budget, but the Governor was against and now he blames the members of the People’s Assembly for the fact that the people do not receive salaries,” said Demian Caraseni.
In the same news conference, the head of Vulcanesti district Serghei Chernev said Mihail Formuzal only makes promises. “Formuzal only speaks and does nothing. He now forms his own party. He has been a member of many parties. He goes where there is money. Moreover, I’m convinced that the Party of Regions project is nothing else but a new method of appropriating money,” said Serghei Chernev.
He also said that the Bashkan asserts he will become Prime Minister after the possible early elections. “He says everywhere that he will be Moldova’s Premier. There are too many candidates for this post. Besides, he is not the person who can represent the country abroad,” said Serghei Chernev.
Mayor of Comrat Nicolai Dudoglo said many projects could not be implemented owing to some of Bashkan’s initiatives. “All the mayors’ offices experience problems. We cannot cover the costs. Everything derives from the Governor’s acts and we cannot understand what kind of policy he pursues. I don’t know about other parts of Moldova, but in Gagauzia his party doesn’t enjoy support,” said the mayor.
The news conference was held the same day the Party of Regions of Moldova was presented officially. Mihail Formuzal was named Bashkan in 2006.
